Situation:

Publicly traded energy company operating in 20 states and the District of Columbia, and six of the seven competitive markets in the U.S., with about 5,400 employees. One of the largest competitive residential electricity providers in the country, and its retail brands serve approximately 3.7 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers with electricity and gas. The company’s generation fleet totals approximately 41,000 megawatts of highly efficient generation capacity, with a diverse portfolio of natural gas, nuclear, coal, solar, and battery storage facilities.

The problem:

The energy company wanted to focus more on providing energy to their customers and have a company handle all their internal IT hardware & maintenance. The energy provider wanted to work with a company that had expertise and knowledge in the space with multiple OEMS, not only servicing but providing consulting services and recommendations with procurement, billing, and IT hardware.

The Solution:

UCS to provide full cycle HAM (Hardware Asset Management), along with consulting services in hardware procurement & services. UCS assisted in providing highly secured, caged environments where nuclear information can be stored safely.

The Outcome

The Energy provider was able to fully dedicate their time to providing energy to the community. UCS successful saved the energy provider $1.5M/year in hardware maintenance savings and became the single source support provider. UCS also was able to remarket older IT Devices, saving the energy provider additional money that could be reinvested into their IT Budget.
